– April 21, 2026 [NL1.1]– Letenda, a Canadian manufacturer of zero emission transit buses, today announced that it has been awarded a place on the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES) Statewide Transit Bus Contract.

This FAST Act–compliant cooperative purchasing contract simplifies and accelerates procurement for public transit agencies by allowing eligible organizations to purchase approved transit buses directly through a pre established agreement, eliminating the need for individual competitive solicitations.
Eligible purchasers under the DES contract include, among others, Washington State agencies, higher education institutions, federal agencies, and federally recognized tribes located within Washington State, as well as other authorized cooperative participants.

The contract is valid through March 31, 2028, with options to extend the agreement for up to an additional thirty‑six (36) months, subject to DES terms and conditions.

As a result:
• More than 30 transit agencies in Washington State and participating U.S. states are eligible to procure Letenda’s electric midsize transit buses through this cooperative contract, including agencies such as Sound Transit, King County Metro, Community Transit, Pierce Transit, and Spokane Transit Authority.

• Over the past five years, the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES) Statewide Transit Bus Contract has supported more than USD $1.8 billion in cumulative transit bus procurement activity, underscoring its role as one of the most widely used cooperative purchasing vehicles for public transportation agencies in the United States.

“Being named to the DES contract represents a significant milestone in Letenda’s expansion in the U.S. market,” said Nicolas Letendre, Chief Executive Officer of Letenda. “This contract gives transit agencies across the region a streamlined path to bus procurement, and we’re proud to be their partner as they build the fleets of the future.”

A detailed summary of the contract is available on the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services website:
<a
